Plot with roads on two sides North and East with South and West
- A plot with roads in North and East, with South and West closed is an excellent plot.
- If the North-East corner is extended further toward North and East, it is excellent.
- If the roads are lower than the level of the site and sloping towards North-East corner, it is excellent.
- If the level of the site is higher in the South-West corner, it is excellent.
Plot with roads on three sides South, West and North
- A plot with roads in the South, West and North with East being closed is a medium grade plot for residential purposes.
- Such a plot is good for commercial purposes.
- Such a plot is a Grade –C plot.
Plot with roads on three sides East, West and South
- A plot with roads In the East, West and South with North closed is good for residential purpose.
- It is also good for commercial purposes especially for businesses run by women.
- This is a Grade –B plot.
Plot with roads on three sides East, North and South
- A plot with roads in East, North and South with West blocked is good for commercial purposes.
- Business will flourish in such a plot.
- This is a Grade –B plot.
Plot with roads on three sides East, North and West
- A plot with roads in the East, North and West with South closed is a very good plot.
- If the roads in the North and East are lower than the road in the West then it is still better.
- If the South West corner is built higher in level than the North-East it will give even better results
- This is a Grade –A plot.
Correct position for Borewells, Underground Tanks and Swimming Pools
- All water resources for the home ie: wells, borewells, underground water tanks and swimming pools should be in the North-East zone because this is the water zone.
- The advantage of having water resources in the North-East is that the water absorbs the beneficial UV rays of early morning sunlight.
- Care should be taken that the water resources should not be located on the Kona Sutra.
- The water resources should not obstruct the main gate or main entrance.
- The water resources should not be in the center or Brahmasthan of the plot.
- If the water resources cannot be located in the North-East then they can be located in the East or the North.
- The water resources should not touch the North or East compound wall nor the main building.
Kona Sutra
- Kona Sutra is a diagonal imaginary line joining the South-West corner of the plot to the North-East corner of the plot.( Diagram A)
- It is also the zone between this diagonal line and the line joining the North-East corner of the main building to the North-East corner of the plot. (Diagram B)
- This zone should be avoided for digging a well or a borewell.
Extensions and Reductions
A perfect plot is either square or rectangular. Such plots have a perfect balance of all directions.
However in actual practice there are plots with extensions and reductions in any of the corners, resulting in irregular shapes which disturb the balance of the plot and creates an imbalance of the five elements of nature within the plot.
These extensions and reductions have either a positive or negative impact on the residents of the plot depending on the direction of the extension or reduction.
